Over the years I have found this location of Thai Kitchen to be convenient for lunch, located right off I-35, with
fast service that allows for eating a step above the normal lunch places. Don't be discouraged because it
is in a strip shopping center--the food is much more authentic than the typical "strip mall" restaurant.
Although I have had several dishes that were not really thrilling, some items here are near the top of the Austin Thai scene. For instance, I think the Ginger Tofu is one of the best around, with a little bit of a sweet taste that I like. The noodle dishes, such as lad na, are the main ones that left me disappointed. The Phad Thai here seems to be better than at Little Thailand (where I also thought it was good). The complimentary Thai Salad with peanut sauce dressing is outstanding. Although Thai Kitchen is seldom mentioned in the sources I have seen as one of the best Thai restaurants in Austin, I think it is very good for certain dishes. |
