DOCTOR WHO

Storm God Rising

Edited by Richard Salter and Jason A. Miller

A History of the Project by Rich Salter

Storm God Rising was compiled over a period of several months in 1994 in response to the publication of Stammers and Walker's Decalog by Virgin Publishing. We decided we on the net could do something similar, and so Jason and I set about creating a theme and compiling entries from the net. It was intended for publishing, but Virgin rejected it, despite Daniel Blythe, Kate Orman and Craig Hinton agreeing to contribute had we been accepted. Thus, Storm God Rising now appears on-line for all to enjoy for free.

The collection deals with the Doctor's encounters with Achmael, a Storm-Demon, who begins life as a violent but naive creature, eager to hate and destroy. He grows, and matures as his life goes on, and slowly becomes an altogether more dangerous adversary for the Doctor.

The tale of Achmael's life begins at The Beginning, in a story I wrote to start off the other contributors. It also formed part of our original submission to Virgin Publishing. Looking back on it now it's not that surprising they rejected it, but it was certainly fun to write.
