using at home, here are some specs.
Hannibal
This is the desktop I cobbled together myself.
- ATX case with 6 bays (3 5-inch external, 2 3.5-inch external, 1 3.5-inch
internal) and a ball-bearing case fan
- FIC PA-2013 ATX Super Socket 7 motherboard with 2 MB Level 2 cache
- AMD K6-2/450 w/ ball-bearing fan
- 128 MB PC100 RAM (1 DIMM, 2 slots free)
- 8.4 GB Western Digital hard drive
- Two FAT32 Win98 partitions
- 5.2 GB Maxtor hard drives, cannibalized from Mulder (my previous machine)
- Two FAT32 Win98 partitions and about 3 GB set aside for Linux
- one 3.5-inch floppy drive, cannibalized from Mulder
- Digital Research 50X IDE/ATAPI CD-Rom
- Memorex CRW-1622 2x2x6 IDE/ATAPI CD-Rewriter
- Zoom 56k/v.90 internal Dual-mode modem
- ATI Xpert@Play 98 AGP 8 MB video card with TV-Out
- Soundblaster Live! Value
- Logitech FirstMouse+ (3-button/wheel), cannibalized from Mulder
- Keytronic black Lifetime Series keyboard, cannibalized from Mulder
- Epson Parallel Zip100 drive on LPT1, cannibalized from Mulder
- Epson 600 color inkjet printer on LPT2, cannibalized from Mulder
- ECP/EPP second parallel port card, cannibalized from Mulder
- 17" monitor (replaced the 15" monitor when it burned out.)
- Inexpensive USB scanner -- I don't remember which brand and I'm
not looking at it at the moment.
- Running Windows 98 Second Edition. I keep intending to re-install
Linux on that other partition.
No, it's not a top-of-the-line gaming machine, but I only play a few,
and only occasionally. Mostly, I'm using it for word processing and web
work.

getting work done at school and on the road.
