What Do I Do All Day?

I teach four sections of Physics and one section of General Physical Science at Southfield High School in Southfield, Michigan. 1999-2000 is my third year at the school and in the district. In previous school years, I have also taught Essential Math II and freshman General Science (Earth and Physical).

I have attended the 1999 Michigan Space Grant Consortium STELLA Workshop, the 1998 Michigan Space Grant Consortium Geosciences Workshop and the 1998 Detroit Edison Energy Educators Workshop. I also attend MSTA (where I often work at the MESTA Free & Inexpensive Shop), MDSTA and MESTA conventions regularly and will be presenting something at the Earth Science Share-a-thon at the NSTA regional in Detroit in fall 1999.

During the 1996-1997 school year, I worked as the Computer Assistant at Ann Arbor (MI) Pioneer High School. I spent the spring of 1996 working as a substitute teacher in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Manchester and Saline, Michigan. I also worked as the science teacher for the Eastern Michigan University Upward Bound program summer camp during the summers of 1996 and 1997.

I completed my student teaching assignment in fall 1995 with Margaret Roding at Standley Lake High School (Jefferson County Public Schools) in Westminster, Colorado.

I was awarded my M.A. in science education in August 1995. I now have the legal right (and obligation?) to walk up to you on the street, look deeply into your eyes and proclaim:
"I am the Master and you will obey me. Do you understand? You will obey me."
As it turns out, in about four more years, my Spousal Overunit, Kris, will be a Doctor of many things. Coincidence? I think not...

I was an on-and-off volunteer at Wallace Fiske Planetarium, Boulder, CO from 1991 to 1993 and was married there in January 1996. I'm hoping to eventually move into the planetarium/museum business full-time.

Creator and Co-Executive Producer of Star Trek: The Crouton Generation
I really didn't intend for this one-off joke to last five years...

Aspiring SF writer
  • I have contributed stories to two attempts by the cast and crew of rec.arts.drwho and alt.drwho creative to get a Doctor Who short story collection published as one of the Decalog books from Virgin Publishing. My stories included the Jon Pertwee-era story "A Dark and Stormy Night" for Doctor Who: Storm God Rising and "Psiren Song" for Doctor Who: Net_Decalog. ("Psiren Song" is not available for public view, since I might eventually use it for something else.)
  • I had to withdraw a serial killer story entitled "Kill File" from our third submission, Doctor Who: Networks due to other commitments.
  • I've also got ideas for a bunch of other things and will start blanketing the pulps with submissions, once I can find my muse again. I think it got lost in the move of January 1996, but Michael Burstein (1996 Hugo Short Story nominee and 1996 John W. Campbell nominee) claims he stole it! You can find some fanfic samples scattered throughout my Web pages, however, and I have recently begun to work on some Star Trek: The Crouton Generation loose ends, to hone my skills.

Two 1995 rec.arts.drwho Adric Award nominations:
  • Best Thread of the Year for Zecca-n-heering (producers Chris Heer and Michael "The Admiral" Zecca)
  • RADW poster you would most like to meet over a cold beer.

  • Kosh:
    "I will teach you."
