Tinne's Folktale Research Page

The Reindeer Prince is a legendary folktale or fairy tale for which I am seeking an origin. I heard it from a tape of a Saami (formerly known as Lapp) woman, but it is not a Finnish or Saami tale.

Below are four links to folktales including the one discussed above, please take the time to read them and if you have ever run across anything like them, please e-mail me with information as to where (in what book, from what recording, from whom, from which culture) you found it. Even if you don't have any information to share they are three fine tales to download and read to children in your life. I will try to add a new tale eight times a year so you can return and find new ones to read and share. If any of the following links do not work, please contact me so I can update or correct the problems.

[Caribou Picture]

This is a cross stitched pattern of a Caribou, close relative of a reindeer found in North America.

The following links lead to some of the better cross-stitch related web sites I have found in my contacts in the Internet Community.

  • Susan Profit's Live Journal
  • This is a link to my Live Journal. It is locked for friends only. If you are a friend, family member or co-worker and would like to read it, please e-mail me with the name of your Live Journal or blog and I will add you to the list. For those of you who know me from the Usenet newsgroups the following is a link to a page that will explain some of the services I offer. Please be aware that due to the potential age of those who may be drawn to the folktales, this is a discreet page. It does not include texts of ceremonies. For those over 18 who post requests for websites in the newsgroups, I have a file I will send out via e-mail.

Thank you for visiting this website, please download these stories and read them to your children. If you have information that can help me, please send e-mail to the address below:
