Our Mt. Baker pictures. We might consider going here for the "camping" trip we discussed, or we might wanna consider taking Russ and Becky et al next year?
This is sunset at Mt. Baker. We never really got close to the mountain, just didn't have time or something. This pic was taken from a drivable viewpoint.

This is taken from where we stopped to take pics of Mt. Baker. Note the nice firepit for a roadside day camp, with views of Baker, of course. (Also note that Cody turned his head away from the camera -- told you he does that!)

This is Mt. Shuksan from Picture Lake. Of course, my camera doesn't do it justice, but you probably get the drift of how pretty it is. We actually like Shuksan much better than Baker for obvious reasons, I think.

We walked a little path around Picture Lake and were overwhelmed with the masses of berries we found. The greatness of the Mt. Baker is that it IS beautiful, it ISN"T within a national park so you can pick the berries, AND it IS underutilized, so the berries are still around to be picked.

This is taken from a viewpoint we walked to. The pic makes the view look kind of ugly, but in real life, it was a green paradise. We saw bear here, I think approximately in the lower left of the area where we took the picture (but not in the picture). I believe they were in a little gully between us and the road.

Here's Alan and Cody at the viewpoint where we took the previous picture.

I think this was a case where we tried to get a photo of the bears, they may be off in the distance. Fortunately, the only close wildlife was Cody. This is prime bear habitat, with its easily maneuverable grass intermixed with blueberries.

This is actually a pic of the cabin where we stayed at North Cascades Highway, NOT Mt. Baker, but the Mt. Baker Glacier Creek cabins are very similar. Definitely not ritzy in any way, but clean, comfortable and the closest to the Mountain. You can find nicer places to stay, but we liked the down-home hospitality, proximity, and of course the fact that they allow dogs. I've also found on the net that whenever people recommend cabins, they always recommend Glacier Creek. Oh, ask me about the bunnies if you're interested.

So there you have it.
