My vitamin regimen
My vitamin regimen is still a work in progress, while I perform the balancing act between common sense and expensive urine : ). Right now I'm taking the following:
- Vitamin E - 400-800 mg as d-alpha tocopherol. I occasionally take selenium with the Vitamin E because of their synergy, but I'm not 100% certain of the safety of regular use of selenium.
- Vitamin C - 250-500 mg per day. (Research has shown that 200 mg per day is the maximum amount of Vitamin C that human cells can absorb.)
- Super B-Complex containing at least 100% of all the B vitamins, including folic acid.
- Calcium as calcium citrate - 1000 mg, taken with 400 mg magnesium and 400 IU of Vitamin D
- I'm finishing off my Costco multivitamins. Hey, I know they're junk, but I have about 400 of the gigantic horse pills left and I figure, what the heck?
- I plan on starting mixed carotenes once I find the right price-"performance" ratio.
- I'm a migraine sufferer, so I'm going to talk with my doctor about taking Vitamin B2 as a preventative. I would need to take 400 mg, where the RDA is 2 mg, so I think my doctor should know about it! : )
