Announcement: Due to the bad weather Thursday which caused many students to miss class, plus our just being generally behind, homework #4 has been cancelled!!! We'll spend the final 2 weeks building a short final project (see below)

1 Month left in the quarter - time to install that 30-day trial!

Free 30-day Director trial! Director is expensive to buy ($499 just for the student version!), but you can take advantage of a pair of 30-day free trials! Since it appears that Director 8.5 and Director MX can read each other's files, try installing 8.5 now, and when that 30-day period runs out, install the MX trial on 11/18 (30 days before the end of the quarter). They can be found at Macromedia's web site (www.macromedia.com) and on BigMac:Graphics Courses:Director:Lessons:Tools.

Chapter 6 "Using Paint Tools" [skim; paint-tool window tricks. Photoshop is better for most graphics work, anyway]
Chapter 7 "Drawing Vector Shapes" [optional, just if you're interested in using the vector shape window]

Chapter 1 "Director Basics" [read pp. 1-9 for a good overview, skim pp. 10-27 (we'll cover those details as we get to them), read p. 28, skip p. 29]
