Subjects include the basics of 2D animation, use of media (including images and audio), and the porting of Director movies to the web with Shockwave. Attendance:

Students are expected to attend all classes, and are responsible for all material presented in lectures; material covered in class will not be repeated. When a specific class period is designated in advance for use as lab time (typically the class before an assignment is due), attendance will up to you.

Homework & Grading:

Your grade will be based on five homework assignments/projects throughout the quarter; each will have a point value from 10 to 25 points. The five grades will be combined into a final total out of 100, then translated to the 4.0 scale for the purpose of assigning a final grade for the class (100-90 —> 4.0-3.5 (A), 89-80 —> 3.4-2.5 (B), 79-70 —> 2.4-1.5 (C), 69-65 —> 1.4-1.0 (D), under 65 —> 0.0 (F)). Of course, I reserve the right to adjust a student’s grade up or down on the basis of his/her performance. All assignments will have clearly-defined due dates; projects up to one week late will be marked off 25%, and projects more than one week late will not be accepted.

Note that, unless I specify otherwise, homework project are not collaborations; every student must turn in their own work.
