Upgrades to the comm gear will be the addition of a good high quality SSB transceiver, as well as updating the existing rather spartan VHF system.

For the navigation gear, a new depthsounder, a new GPS system, and a wind meter. I would like a chartplotter, but they are a bit pricey and for now at least, we will stick with paper charts. They don't need batteries. A chartplotting and navigation program for the laptop is no a bad idea however, but not as a primary navigation tool.
