Usually I put political stuff here, but to heck with that. I don't own firearms in order to debate constitutional law, and founder's intent, with pinheads who've never fired a gun, and can't understand why I would.

So here's a section for firearms related stuff, that is, and will remain apolitcal.

For the record, I own numerous firearms, at current count, between my wife and I, we house something on the order of a dozen rifles, handguns, and one shotgun. That may not seem like a lot to some of the more, er, extravagant in the gun owning fraternity, but it's a fair number of them when you consider we live on a 35' sailboat with little extra storage space :) Some of the firearms I own, and enjoy shooting, are mentioned below.

This is not an exhaustive list, it changes from time to time as firearms are added, and rarely, deleted. I won't mention all of them most likely. But here are some comments on some of them.

Boomershoot

Went to Boomershoot this year (on May 1, 2005) as well as attending the Saturday long range shooting clinic taught by Gene Econ, had a blast, (no pun intended) and plan on attending next year, a few pics here Will hopefully write up a bit of a report in the next few days. Be advised, the full size pics "behind" the thumbnails are pretty large, on the order of 700K+ each.

May 9 2006 Again went to boomershoot this year, weather was cloudy, cool, and just about perfect for long range shooting. Tagged a couple of the short range boomers at 380 yards, and a couple of the ones at the approx 625 yd range, unfortunately, none of the latter went off. Missed the few shots I took at the 700yd + boomers, maybe next year. This year I had purchased a new Savage 10 FLP (left hand "tactical" rifle in 308Win) Put the same Mueller scope I used last year, on the same rings, and a mount from Ken Farrell, (the old mount from last year wouldn't fit the Model 10) and have no complaints on the gear. Ammo was surplus XM118LR, 175gr, and well capable of <1MOA groups, at least at the range before the shoot weekend. I Still have about 40rds of that XM118LR left, and will be buying more as soon as I can, assuming it's still available. For the price ($350/500rds, delivered) I can't beat it by handloading, even if I had the space and the tools already to do so. I also took a surplus K31 with me, didn't tag any boomers, but it was a fun rifle to shoot anyway. Used my 44 Blackhawk for the "boomerhunt" portion, tagged at least one of the 4" boomers at ~30yds, and yes, a 240gr 44 HP will detonate them. After the first, it was a tad hard to be sure you were the one detonating the boomers, there were a *lot* of them going off, all at the same time. Will definately go again next year. Last year, dragged Val and Jay along, this year, added Jason, and next year, hope to have Kat and my brother Chris along also. Just have to get a rifle for Kat, and convince her she wants to go. We are heading out to the Kenmore range tonight to join, and that should help convince her.
