After over ten years, with shanks mare, and busses being my primary
transportation. A new job, in a new location, (Mukilteo, about 22 miles
away, and not in a bus friendly location for night shift.) has resulted
in my rejoining the vehicle fraternity. Since gasoline is so expensive
at the moment, and I am a
cheap fella, I have added a
delightful 1979 Yamaha 650 twin to our small stable of vehicles. (One
35' sailboat, one 9'6" dinghy, a couple of bicycles, and now, one
motorcycle. )
For those familiar with the British twins from the 50s and 60s, yes, the
Yamaha 650 is modeled after that look, and frankly, does a nice job,
without the vibration, oil leaks, or "exciting" parts failings of the
British marques of the day. Not to say that I'd turn down a Matchless or
Triumph if one came my way at a reasonable price, but a Yammy 650 is
quite affordable.
I will add more comments, pictures, and notes to this, as I can. This is
going to be my primary work transportation for the next year or so, and
probably more than just work. I am remembering how much fun riding a
motorcycle can be.
