By Bill Boyde
On September 26, 1998, we went on a trip to the Olympic Penninsula
to visit Hurricane Ridge. We wanted to visit the area before the
coming winter covered it with snow. We traveled by Washington State
Ferry (Edmonds / Kingston run) to the Penninsula, then drove on to
Hurricane Ridge. Once at the Visitor's Center, we decided to hike up
to the top of Hurricane Hill. The sights along the way can be spectacular.
We wanted to check out the view from Obstruction Point (there is a dirt
road that runs from the Visitor Center to Obstruction Point), but by the
time we got to the end of the road, it was too dark to see the sights.
(Sounds like an excuse to go back sometime, doesn't it?)
