We have an immediate full-time opening for a system administrator /
developer.
Your job will include loading and configuring Sun Sparc systems with UltraLinux and configuring them for operation on our network. Generally this involves installing RedHat 6.2 and then updating packages to current releases and fixing various security problems that exist in RedHat 6.2. Familiarity with Unix and particularly Linux system security issues is required. There will also be C program development (usually modification of existing applications), Perl scripting, shell scripting, and installation and configuration of various software packages. There is also often the opportunity for HTML web coding as well. Hours are very flexible as it usually isn't critical when this work gets done though there are occasions when projects will have to be done at early morning hours (midnight-6am) when traffic is very low. Compensation will initially be at $14/hour. This can only change if significant money-making projects get completed and online bringing in revenue. There are also some commissioned sales opportunities. What is important to me is not your race, age, or sex, religion, etc. What is important is that you know what you need to know to do the job, you have the necessary skills, you are interested, ney, passionate about what you'll be doing, you're responsible, and you have a good attitude. I want someone who is so interested in this that they want to spend their time here productively because they're doing what they love doing. Time you spend working is a significant portion of your life. I don't want you to waste it just to earn a living. If you are interested in this position, please e-mail nanook@eskimo.com. Please do not attach Word Docs or other proprietary formats. Plain text is preferable. Postscript, and Display Postscript are acceptable.
