We were doing what amounted to cloud computing in 1985 when we introduced our Unix Time Share service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We do offer cloud computing facilities as part of our <a href=\"\/services\/shells\">Visual Shell Service<\/a> in the form of <a href=\"\/owncloud\">ownCloud<\/a>.\u00a0 You need an account here to utilize these services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Our <a href=\"\/services\/shells\/\" target=\"_blank\">Visual Shell Service<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We call our service a <a href=\"\/services\/shells\/\" target=\"_blank\">visual shell service<\/a> because our service parallels and includes traditional Linux shell (command line) access, but also includes full visual <strong>graphical access<\/strong> with <strong>sound<\/strong>, <strong>mouse<\/strong>, <strong>keyboard<\/strong>, and <strong>printer<\/strong>, and in some cases even USB devices such as scanners can be attached.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With cloud services you get raw computing capability and an environment for installing and controlling it.\u00a0 We provide a complete computing environment with operating systems and thousands of applications with a complete and secure interface.\u00a0 The only thing you need to install to take full advantage of our computing environment is <a href=\"\/support\/remote-desktop\/x2go\/\" target=\"_blank\">x2go<\/a> or any NX client.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In addition, you can also access our servers via traditional command line interfaces using ssh (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chiark.greenend.org.uk\/~sgtatham\/putty\/download.html\" target=\"_blank\">putty<\/a> on Windows).\u00a0 Some of our <a href=\"\/support\/remote-desktop\/\" target=\"_blank\">shell servers<\/a> can be accessed graphically (without sound) using <a href=\"\/support\/remote-desktop\/chicken-vnc\/\">VNC<\/a> or RDP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With our service you can <strong>start doing useful work or play right away<\/strong>.\u00a0 We also keep our applications up to date and back up your data weekly.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t have to worry about viruses, worms, malware, spyware, eating or stealing your data here.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cloud Computing What Is Cloud Computing? \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cloud computing is a buzz phrase for, &#8220;doing your computing work on someone else\u2019s computers&#8220;.
