\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eskimo North provides text-only shell access via ssh and web based guacamole but also provides the option of having a full remote desktop from our servers on your computer which provides for full high resolution graphical applications with sound.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We support the following four protocols for remote desktop sessions, x2go<\/a>, Guacamole (Host Desktop or Terminal from WebApps Pulldown), vnc, and rdp<\/a>.\u00a0 Not all protocols are supported on all servers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All remote desktop services with the exception of Guacamole support tunneling over ssh. Guacamole supports and enforces strong TLS encryption. With X2go ssh tunneling is the default.\u00a0 All VNC and RDP servers here support TLS encryption and ssh tunneling is also supported.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To access the system via Guacamole, a web based remote console or terminal, use the WebApps pulldown and select “Host Desktop or Terminal<\/strong>“.\u00a0 At the login and password prompt that first appears, type “public<\/strong>” (without the quotes) in both.\u00a0 Then select the server and whether you want terminal or desktop.\u00a0 You will then be prompted for YOUR login and password.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sound is supported by X2Go<\/a> and, on some machines guacamole and rdp. On older Mac platform without pulse audio support, in order to get sound you must compile and install Pulse Audio<\/a> yourself.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You can override the default mate-session by creating a file called .xsession<\/strong> in your home directory containing the session to start-up, and link it to .Xclients<\/strong> (because some older rdp\/vnc packages look here).\u00a0 This file must be marked executable, “chmod a+x .Xclients<\/strong>“. When connecting via RDP, on some machines, if Xorg<\/strong> shows in the session type, select Xvnc<\/strong> instead.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
