font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Remmina, is a multiple protocol remote desktop client for Linux that is available in the repositories of Debian based Linux systems including Debian, Mint, and Ubuntu.\u00a0 All you need to do is type:<\/span><\/p>\n<pre style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">apt-get install remmina<\/span><\/pre>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For CentOS 7, Scientific Linux 7, or Enterprise Linux 7, you can get an RPM from rpm.pbone.net, <a href=\"http:\/\/rpm.pbone.net\/index.php3\/stat\/4\/idpl\/26963767\/dir\/redhat_el_7\/com\/remmina-1.0.0-8.el7.nux.x86_64.rpm.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/rpm.pbone.net\/index.php3\/stat\/4\/idpl\/26963767\/dir\/redhat_el_7\/com\/remmina-1.0.0-8.el7.nux.x86_64.rpm.html<\/a>.\u00a0 Unfortunately it is not available in any of the regular distributions for those versions of Linux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For Centos6, Scientific Linux 6, or Enterprise 6, Remmina is not available as an RPM.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t attempted a compile from source but that would appear to be the only option.\u00a0 Suggest using X2Go instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For Fedora and OpenSuse, Remmina is included with the distribution.\u00a0 To install on Fedora 22, type:<\/span><\/p>\n<pre style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">dnf install remmina<\/span><\/pre>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To install on OpenSuse type:<\/span><\/p>\n<pre style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">zypper install remmina<\/span><\/pre>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Creating a New Connection<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0 On the Mate Desktop, Remmina will be under Applications-&gt;Internet-Remmina.\u00a0 You can also start it from the command line by just typing &#8220;remmina&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-918\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina1.jpg\" alt=\"remmina1\" width=\"704\" height=\"434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina1.jpg 704w, https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina1-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina1-487x300.jpg 487w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Here I already have established some connections but when you first start Remmina there will not be any.\u00a0 Hover over Connect and select &#8220;New&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-920\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina2.jpg\" alt=\"remmina2\" width=\"706\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina2.jpg 706w, https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina2-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina2-490x300.jpg 490w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 706px) 100vw, 706px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select &#8220;NX&#8221; as the protocol.\u00a0 Start with the &#8220;Basic&#8221; tab and fill in the server you want to connect to.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fill in your username and password.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Use Window size if you want a full remote desktop taking over your screen, else use one of the custom sizes to get a smaller window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For Quality, if you have a DSL or cable connection, you can use Best (slowest) and it will still be basically like you are there.\u00a0 If you have an ISDN or dial-up connection then select a lower quality.\u00a0 You may also have to do this is if you have a poor wireless connection or a satellite connection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For the start-up program, I recommend that you select Gnome if you are using Shellx or Scientific.\u00a0 If you are using any other server, I recommend you use mate-session which is a fork of Gnome2.\u00a0 Any Desktop that uses a compositing window manager will not work.\u00a0 Kde3 and kde4 should be okay, but kde5 and gnome3 are not.\u00a0 Mate is not one of the pull down options, you&#8217;ll need to type &#8220;mate-session&#8221; into the Startup program box.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-922\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina4.jpg\" alt=\"remmina4\" width=\"455\" height=\"557\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina4.jpg 455w, https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/remmina4-245x300.jpg 245w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then go over to the SSH tape and tick Enable SSH tunnel and Tunnel via loopback address.\u00a0 Unless you are behind a firewall that blocks ssh, tick Same server at port 22.\u00a0 If you are behind a firewall, tick custom and select port 443.
