A short bio for The Malchicks

The Malchicks were officially formed in February, 1990, when Jimmie Farmer returned from California to join his friends Dave (Fitz) Fitzgerald, Alex Berkey, and Curt Hustvedt.

Alex and Curt had been making home demos together for the previous couple of years under the name The Malchicks, and Fitz and Jimmie were suitably impressed enough to join forces with them. Jimmie had known Alex and Curt before his leaving to California in 1988, and introduced Fitz to them in late '89, when Al and Curt wanted to record some tracks with a live drummer.

The Malchicks have released a 7" single, on orange vinyl, (1990, "Summer's Son/A Central Infinity (Defined)"), and their CD, "Bad Acid Comedy" (1992, Other River Music). They have received many accolades for their CD, and have garnered much college radio airtime as well.

Curt Hustvedt has recently left the band, and they are playing as a three piece until a replacement can be found. He was the rhythm guitarist, and also sang.

The band's current lineup:

Alex Berkey: Vocals and Bass
Jimmie Farmer: Guitar, mandolin
Dave Fitzgerald: Drums and percussion
