Culture, Conflict, & Change: Native Spirit and Jungian Ideas
This event uses a classic creation myth found in many Native American mythologies to open universal ideas as suggested by Carl Jungıs notion of collectively shared images and living ideas of the soul. The intersection of indigenous, mythic imagination with the edges of contemporary psychology provides a meeting place and fecund ground for replanting ancient ideas in modern soil. At the critical crossroads facing the western world the hidden intelligence of traditional myth may be the best resource for imagining the step forward. Using the old sense of myth which means both knowing the story and telling the story, this event seeks to honor the traditions still living in the Earth of the Northwest while examining the value of Jungıs psychological ideas.
