Fall Color in Azalea Leaves

Deciduous azaleas lose their leaves each year, so that, unlike other rhododendrons, their fall color stands by itself. The intensity varies from plant to plant, depending upon moisture content and sun exposure. In species, such as the schlippenbachii below, a range of differences is also possible because of genetic variations.
