The azalea garden puts on vigorous new growth in the summer sun. Most of the plants were spindly before they were moved here, both from overcrowding and increasing shade over the years. Most of the azaleas have been here for two years now. Orchard grass originally covered the ground here. I plowed it up and mulched heavily with branches, leaves, and needles. As that settled down, with the help of the brushcutter, I topped it off with a layer of hog fuel for a cleaner look. |
