The Bristlecone Pine is the oldest living thing in the world. Native to the high and relatively dry elevations of the American southwest, it also thrives in Pacific northwest gardens.

The bristlecone is a slow grower. This fifteen foot tree is about forty years old. Some five-thousand year-old specimens are no taller.
