This is a graft from the famous Haida Golden Spruce from the Queen Charlotte Islands. The 600 year old tree was sacred to the Haida Gwaii. It was secretly cut down on January 22, 1997 by Grant Hadwin. He was arrested, but disappeared on hte way to his trial.
