I am a polio survivor, Val, and I am trached. I had polio in 1952 at age 7.
It left me with scoliosis, and I started to wear a body brace for that when
I was in 4th grade. I became an over-achiever and a workaholic; spent
several years teaching high school English and speech in Iowa and Minnesota.
In '78 I had a spinal fusion and got to throw the brace away, and in '89 I
had my tracheostomy. I am still walking and doing a lot of things, but I
wear down a lot quicker than I used to; I also have to make sure that I get
enough rest and eat nourishing food.
I agree! This certainly is an interesting list. I've learned a lot in just
the short time I've been here.
