When I as a teenager (say 40 years ago), I used to go swimming here fairly regularly. Back then you&#8217;d see clear water and sand, not this green crap with all sorts of floating debris.\u00a0 Strangely enough and kind of scary, kids still play in this muck that resembles the intake of a sewer treatment plant.\u00a0 This is an example of where we&#8217;ve really hurt our environment in ways that very directly affects all of us as well as wild life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/nook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4865.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1541\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/nook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4865-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4865\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is what the water at the Juanita Beach on Lake Washington in Kirkland looks like.
