{"id":1956,"date":"2015-05-11T10:07:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T18:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/nook\/?p=1956"},"modified":"2015-05-11T10:07:23","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T18:07:23","slug":"1956","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/2015\/05\/11\/1956\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/odb.org\/\">Our Daily Bread<\/a> Bible Verses<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"version-KJV result-text-style-normal text-html \">\n<h1 class=\"passage-display\"><span style=\"font-size: 20pt;\"><span class=\"passage-display-bcv\">1 Timothy 1:12-20<\/span><span class=\"passage-display-version\">King James Version (KJV)<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29709\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-12\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">12\u00a0<\/sup>And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29710\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-13\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">13\u00a0<\/sup>Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29711\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-14\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">14\u00a0<\/sup>And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29712\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-15\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29713\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-16\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29714\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-17\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29715\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-18\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">18\u00a0<\/sup>This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29716\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-19\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">19\u00a0<\/sup>Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"en-KJV-29717\" class=\"text 1Tim-1-20\" style=\"color: #333300;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">20\u00a0<\/sup>Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: #000080;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I can identify with Paul in as much as I consider myself a huge sinner but have received God&#8217;s mercy and much of what I did was not so much out of unbelief but definitely out of ignorance.\u00a0 I knew God existed because I had had some experiences in my youth that had no other possible explanation.\u00a0 The nature of God is what I didn&#8217;t know.\u00a0 When I look back on my life and see how often God was involved in the minutest details even though at the time I was completely unaware, I am amazed that the creator of such a vast and magnificent universe can lovingly care for each individual.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: #000080;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I know sometimes it doesn&#8217;t seem that way.\u00a0 When I was first taken into Shelton, the Washington State Prison intake facility, they put me in a room maybe 6 feet square that was concrete floors, walls, and no heat, it was about 45\u00baF, I could clearly see my breath.\u00a0 They made me strip naked and left me there for about 45 minutes.\u00a0 I shivered violently, eventually laid down on the floor and curled up in a fetal position and remained that way until they finally threw in an orange pumpkin suit and said put this on.\u00a0 During this time I honestly thought it likely that I was going to die right then and there.\u00a0 At the time it was easy to blame God, even though I know now only myself and perhaps other somewhat sadistic prison personnel were to blame.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: trebuchet ms,geneva,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: #000080;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 When I was in solitary confinement, God made it clear to me I was to blame for the suffering I had caused.\u00a0 And now, with this experience behind me, I see this pattern repeated all around me, people blaming God for suffering man is solely responsible for.\u00a0 Only be accepting responsibility can we end this suffering.\u00a0 As long as we assign blame to something outside of our control, we can&#8217;t possibly make any positive changes, but once we accept responsibility, we are empowered with the ability to make positive changes.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Our Daily Bread Bible Verses 1 Timothy 1:12-20King James Version (KJV) 12\u00a0And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 13\u00a0Who was before a blasphemer, and &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/2015\/05\/11\/1956\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1956","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","wpautop"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1956","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1956"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1956\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1956"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1956"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eskimo.com\/~nanook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1956"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
