[This is from what I saw of the game. Please excuse any spelling and grammatical errors; I didn't get much sleep last night. All times mentioned mean time _left_ in the quarter. I'm assuming you know which team the players play for and I sometimes abbreviate the teams' name to three letters (less typing). If you like this and want to see more, let me know. Comments and suggestions welcome. Critisisms, you can take where the sun don't shine.] The other game results: NJ Nets 98, Cleveland Cavs 114 Charlotte Hornets vs. Boston Celtics in da Gahden 1st Quarter: It was a pretty tight game. Early in the quarter Parish grabbed most of the Celtics defensive rebounds, but Charlotte wasn't really crashing the offensive boards. The bizzarre incident of the quarter came when Reggie Lewis was jogging down the court. He just fell and stayed down. No one was near him. He went out of the game and didn't return for the rest of the half. We were later informed that he fainted. This was at 5:02. Both teams were shooting well in the first part of the quarter. Mourning got an offensive rebound and stuffed over Parish. Parish came right back and hit a short jumper with Mourning in his face. Charlotte was starting to get the offensive boards. Dee Brown made two sweet jumpers in a row and the score is 26-24 Cha with 2:17 left. The teams traded the lead throughout the quarter. Dell Curry had a nice steal from Gamble. Cha seemed to have the hustle and enthusiasm. Brown made an awesome two-handed swat (how did he get that high?) preventing a gimmee by Gill. Quarter ends at 34-29 Cha. 2nd Quarter: Boston started hot. Brown had a nice steal/block which led to a breakaway giving Boston a 1 pt lead. Mourning had a nice outside jumper on the next play. 36-36 Cha 9:28 left. Cha was cold for the quarter shooting only 1 for 9 with 7:46 left. Refs called a rare 3-sec against Charlotte. Boston held a 1 to 5 lead most of the quarter, but the Hornets were tough in the paint with Mourning and L Johnson - the two had 3 baskets in a row under the basket. 50-51 Bos 1:58. Teams traded baskets, one point leads, and misses. McHale gave Gattison an elbow to the face and Gattison went to the locker room. McDaniel closed the quarter by getting 2 fouls. One was intentional to waste time - 4th foul to give, the other sent Gill to the line with seconds left in the half. Gill made 1 of 2 and at half it was tied 53-53. Cha had 8 offensive rebounds and Bos 1 in the half. 3rd Quarter: Lewis was back in the game and started by making his first shot. L Johnson ripped an offensive rebound from Abdelnaby, but no score on that possession. Gamble got 2 easy put backs - Bogues was guarding him, but would switch to give the double team leaving Gamble alone under the net. There was a heads up play by a Celtic to an open Abdelnaby under the net. Cha calls time at 7:30. Boston was on a 13-4 run. I had a feeling that the tide had turned. Cha was frustrated and Bos hot. At 5:45 it was 61-70 Bos. The teams traded baskets and misses. Again a smart play by the Celtics passing to a breaking Adbelnaby, who missed, but Parish was there for the put back. Geez, Adbelnaby was playing well. 67-76 Bos 3:00. Cha was not defending well in the paint. Bos was getting easy baskets there. Quarter ended at 83-71 Boston. 4th Quarter: Bos played hard and was getting the boards. 76-91 Bos 8:24. Cha was having trouble scoring. McDaniel had the emotion and got the crowd going. 97-78 Bos 7:01. This game was over. Bos was very hot - had emotion and everything was falling. Cha was frustrated and nothing was falling. The paint was wide open for Boston. L Johnson and McDaniel were jawwing and were given double technicals. 102-86 Bos 4:50. Cha had a mini-run of 9-0 to a Bos time out at 53:52, 102-91 Bos. Bos was ice cold and Cha was getting the loose balls and rebounds. But it was too little to late. 106-92 at the 2 min mark. Final: 112 Boston, 101 Charlotte patricia
