[This is from what I saw of the game. Please excuse any spelling and grammatical errors; I didn't get much sleep last night. All times mentioned mean time _left_ in the quarter. I'm assuming you know which team the players play for and I sometimes abbreviate the teams' name to three letters (less typing). If you like this and want to see more, let me know. Comments and suggestions welcome. Critisisms, you can take where the sun don't shine.] The other game results: LA Clippers 94, Houston Rockets 117 San Antonio Spurs vs Portland Trailblazers in Rip City (which is what most of the game seemed like) Drexler DNP and DNDress. 1st Quarter: The teams started by trading baskets and misses. It was 8-7 SA at 8:15 left. Ellis made a three from 3 feet behind the line. 13-11 SA 7:04. Again the teams traded baskets and misses. Portland took a small lead of 17-16 at 4:30, but SA came back with 2. A little bit of excitement: a swat by D Robinson, steal by Por, 3 by Porter and timeout. 18-20 Por 3:36. Por had the rebounding edge and the refs were calling it pretty tight. 22-18 Por 2:22. Neither team was shooting the free throws well. Strickland had a nice drive to the basket, then DelNegro swished a three for the final points of the quarter. 26-20 Portland. Both teams showing a lot of defense. 2nd Quarter: SA started with a Reid steal and a Cummings layup. Strickland had a pretty drive to the basket. 30-22 Por 9:35. Porter made his second 3 to put Portland up by 11. SA seemed to lack emotion. W Anderson finally made the Spurs' fourth point of the quarter. 35-24 Por. Both teams failed to make a basket for several possessions and Por called time with 6:37. Both teams were cold - front rimming shots, even those close to the basket. Porter finally scores with 5:20 left. 37-24 Por. A breakaway from an Ellis miss led to a Duckworth dunk. Timeout SA. Maybe they would figure how to score. I was expecting a higher scoring game than this. 39-24 Por 4:44. SA came out of the time out and threw the ball away. A nice feed from Ellis to some SA player for an easy layup. 40-28 Por 2:40. Carr got his 3rd foul with 2 minutes left in the half. Daniels hit two in a row - someone from the Spurs started to look like he could score. But wait, he misses his next two attempts. SA made a shot at the buzzer. The crowd was dead, no enthusiasm. 46-24 Portland. Both teams seemed to lack emotion and intensity. This was a playoff game! 3rd Quarter: The teams traded points to start the quarter. 51-38 Por 10:00. Carr picked up his 4th foul on a blocking call (I would have called a charge). Portland starts hitting and the Spurs start missing. Elliot finally made a basket and the Spurs got the ball back on a Por turnover and capitalize. 42-54 Por 8:30. Ellis swished a 3 to cut the lead to nine. Por turnover and SA scored. Timeout. 50-57 Por 6:44. Por came back with a nice drive from Williams. Kersey also had a nice drive and dishes to Williams for an easy dunk. 50-61 Por. They trade baskets. A Nice steal by Strickland from DelNegroand Strickland took it to the hole and got the foul. D Robinson was not into the game - he lacked presence. Teams trade misses. Timeout. 67-54 Por 2:37. SA gets _4_ shots at the basket and miss all. W Anderson got a forearm to the chest (away from the ball) that left him on the floor in pain. He was fine in the 4th. End of 3rd. 70-58 Por. Lead would have been larger if Portland had been making their free throws. 4th Quarter: Sloppy bball as Spurs try to steal off a bad pass, then Por steals it right back off another bad pass, and instead of an easy 2, an airball. Both teams scored a couple. Elliot made a nice outside shot. And Kersey follows with a pretty jumper of his own. On the next possession, he went 1 of 2 at the line. 75-62 Por 8:22. Kersey and Elliot pretty much the only stars of the game. An Ellis basket brings it to within 7. 68-75 Por 6:25. Crowd finally starts to come alive. Cummings got a basket while Ellis got fouled and got a foul shot cutting the lead to 4. Somehow, we had a game. This should have been a blowout. Kersey went to the line and made both. Crowd cheers and Ellis silenced them by swishing an outside shot. C Robinson was only 1-2 from the line 3-8 for the game. 5 minute mark. D Robinson scored and is fouled. A loose ball foul on Kersey. 18 seconds. D Robinson at line, but misses first. Maded second. 12 seconds. Por tiemout. 86-85 Por. C Robinson at the line. Missed 1st, missed 2nd. Spurs rebound. 9.9 seconds. Elliot was fouled by C Robinson who fouls out with 5 pts, 1-15 fg, 3-10 ft. 5.3 seconds left. Makes first. Tie. Makes 2nd, 87-86 SA. Timeout. Ellie inbounded to Strickland who shots and missed. Game over. The Spurs _steal_ this game. Portland should be ashamed. Final: 87 San Antonio, 86 Portland patricia
