[This is from what I saw and the notes I took. Please excuse spelling, grammatical, and typing errors. Times listed indicates time _left_ in the quarter, half, game and/or overtime and the team listed after the score is always the team that is ahead. A brick is a short shot that hits the part of the rim closest to the shooter. To save time and typing, I only list players by their last names. If you would like a roster list for the players in the playoffs, e-mail me asking for a roster list. If you would like to receive the tabs directly via e-mail, send me a note with your correct e-mail address and state that you want to be added to the tabs mailing list. The brawl: Okay, Duane Ferrell gets the lay up and is fouled hard - later commented that his reaction was because thought the foul was a little too hard. Ferrell talks and points his finger in Grant Long's face. This is right in front of the Heat's bench. Long responds by grabbing Ferrell by the neck. The two are quickly separated and Craig Ehlo, trying to keep Long away from his teammate, wrestles Long away and they end up on the ground. The Heat bench sees Long on the ground and they enter into the fracas. Long gets up and Ehlo tries to get up but Steve Smith steps over him. Mookie Blaylock pushes Smith away from Ehlo. Danny Manning, who was on the bench, is on the floor looking to go after someone, but Heat coach Kevin Loughery has him wrapped up [Loughery keeps a hold of him, but Manning is a little stronger than Loughery and stays in the fracas]. Long is looking for someone to go after. The Hawks bench clears. A lot of players and coaches are wrapping players up trying to regain control, and some pushing going on as well. Blaylock and Ehlo were two players trying to wrap others up and Manning and Smith were looking for someone to go after. Heat assistant Alvin Gentry has Long wrapped up from behind. Long throws Gentry over his shoulder to the ground [probably didn't know who had a hold of him]. Keith Askins, who was on the Heat's bench, is near by and they start to calm Long down. Doug Edwards, who was on the Hawks' bench, comes from no where and sucker punches Askins from behind. Askins retaliates and connects squarely and Edwards throws another punch. The two players are separated. Eventually control is regained. The only good thing I can say is that the Atlanta fans [who I was all prepared to bash for only having 11,000 for Thursday's game and only selling out just prior to tonight's game] stayed in their seats. The really bad news is that Alvin Gentry suffered a broken wrist. NBA VP Rod Thorn, who was at the game, immediately got a copy of the tape of the brawl and headed to New York. Fines and suspensions will be reported Monday. With this mess and the clashes in the SA-Utah game, it was basically an ugly day for NBA basketball. patricia
