It's that time of year again! The playoffs are about to begin. And, yes, I am going to do the tabs on the playoffs once again. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the tabs, they are fairly detailed play-by-play notes from the games I watch. If you would like to see an example of what one looks like, ftp to the wuarchive and take a look: ftp ftp.wustl.edu login: ftp password: yourname@youraddress cd /doc/misc/sports/nba/1994/playoffs/tabs or go to my ftp directory: ftp ftp.netcom.com login: anonymous password: yourname@youraddress cd /pub/pa/patricia/tabs mget ny-ind5.94 The basis for this message is a calling for those who want to receive the tabs directly via e-mail. If you want the tabs by e-mail, send me a note (patricia@netcom.com) with "Add tabs" as the subject [required - I have 3 mailing lists and I need to know which one to add you to] and your correct e-mail address in the body. The messages are going to be hand processed. I will also be posting the reports to rec.sport.basketball.pro and any relevant alt.sports.basketball.nba newsgroups. I will also be placing the reports in my ftp directory (see above). This service is free of charge and brought to you by my own good will. Note: Please be sure that you really want to receive these via e-mail before you subscribe. If I get over 800 subscribers (the nba-daily mailing lists have over 1550 people on them, which is why I'm a little concerned), I'll have to request a second tabs mailing list and that will take about a week to be created. Plus the rate of distribution among the members is slower the larger the list gets. Both TNT and TBS are going to be showing games, but as I have to sleep sometime (and work is not an acceptable place to do so), I will only be reporting on probably two games per week night. Last year, I was able to send the reports out about 30 minutes after the end of the last game of the evening. I will be moving to Dallas (yeah!) in two weeks and might miss a few games due to that. The games I watch will be the ones that I'm interested in, I think will be exciting, on the same station, earliest, or by flip of a coin. [Jim Jackson is the studio host for April 27-29 on TNT, so whatever they are showing, I'm watching.] My team is not in the playoffs (next year!), but I do have teams I'll be rooting for. I do try to keep my biases out of my reporting and I have been known to go bonkers on exciting plays, even for players I don't like. Basically, I love good basketball. Let the games begin! patricia
