1980  The NBA approved Dallas' petition to carry 13 players for the first
      month of the season, instead of the maximum 11 players.  Dallas had
      to reduce their roster to 11 players by November 10.

1986  Signed rookie Roy Tarpley to a 5 year contract.

1997  Signed 2nd round draft pick Bubba Wells to a 2 year contract.

1997  Signed Malcolm Mackey, Carlos Strong, Ace Custis, Ike Nwankwo,
      Kevin Whitted, and Derrick Chandler to non-guaranteed 1 year 
      contracts.  Only Custis (who tore his ACL during preseason) made 
      the opening day roster.

1997  Named Sonny Allen as an assistant coach.

2000  Signed Mike Jones and Jamal Kendrick to 1 year, non-guaranteed
      contracts.  Both would be released before the season started.

2000  Released Terry Mills.

2001  Muggsy Bogues did not report for training camp.  He would be 
      released 10/29/01.

2001  Minnesota signed Dallas free agent Gary Trent.

2001  Darrick Martin broke the 3rd metacarpal bone in his right hand
      during the first day of practice.  Martin would be out until 
      11/13/01 due to the injury.

2007  San Antonio announced that they would retire Avery Johnson's #6 
      during the 12/22/07 Spurs game vs the LA Clippers. 

2008  Named Paul Westphal as executive vice president of basketball 
      operations.

2009  In the annual Blue-White scrimmage, the game ended in a tie at
      42-42.  Shawn Marion had the game tying putback with 7.5 seconds 
      left in the 2 10-minute halves game. The players for the blue 
      team were Marion, Jason Kidd, Roddy Beaubois, Matt Carroll, 
      Nathan Jawai, Erick Dampier, and Kris Humphries . For the white 
      team, the players were Quinton Ross, J.J. Barea, Jason Terry, 
      James Singleton, Dirk Nowitzki, Jake Voskuhl, and Drew Gooden. 
      Tim Thomas and Josh Howard did not play.
