1987  Named John MacLeod as head coach.  MacLeod would be fired 11/29/89.
      He would finish with a regular season record of 96-79 (.549) and a
      playoff record of 10-7 (.588) with Dallas.

1988  In the Western Conference Finals of the playoffs, the LA Lakers
      defeated Dallas 117-102 to take the series 4-3 and eliminate Dallas 
      from the playoffs.  It was the first time Dallas had been in a 7
      game series.  About 4,500 fans greet the Mavs at DFW later that 
      night.

    15-2 run to seal the win.

  Aguirre had 24 points, Roy Tarpley had 18 points and 7 rebounds, James
    Donaldson had 15 points and 14 rebounds including 8 offensive, and
    Derek Harper had 15 points and 11 assists.
  Detlef Schrempf (sprained right ankle) did not play.
  Donaldson shot 74.4% (32-43) FG during the 7 games, setting the league 
    playoff record for highest FG% during a 7-game series.
  James Worthy had 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists, Magic Johnson had
    24 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists, and Byron Scott had 21 points.
