The Mavs played a much better over all game vs the Lakers.  The team had
the sloppy streaks (the second units for both teams were pretty sorry),
but managed to recover and play some good ball.  They got down by 15
points in the 2nd quarter but rallied back to cut the Lakers' lead down to
just 4 points at the half.  Eric Montross sprained his left ankle in the
3rd quarter and will be evaluated today.  Jason Kidd and Chris Gatling are
expected to play in Friday's game.

The NBA rejected the Loren Meyer to Orlando trade.  Meyer's $667,000
salary did not fit into Orlando's open $575,000 injury exception.  The
teams tried to use the 15% rule, but the NBA rejected that as the rule
only applies to player-for-player trades, not player-for-draft pick.
Charlotte has offered George Zidek for Meyer, but the Mavs are not
interested in getting a body in return for Meyer.
