In a surprise (and contract eating) move, the Mavs cut Terry Davis,
Jimmy King, and Herb Jones.  Both Davis and King have guaranteed
contracts for this season that the Mavs will still have to pay (and,
yes, the contracts still count against the cap).
 
Looks like Erick Strickland will make the team as the 5th guard.
 
The Mavs now have 14 players on the roster and only Greg Dreiling
does not have a guaranteed contract.  With Samaki Walker highly
likely to start the season on IR, Dreiling or Fred Roberts will
be the player cut (unless someone else starts the season on IR -
and it seems the Mavs are leaning towards not placing Mashburn
on IR to start the season).
