Well, we knew this was coming, but we dreaded it anyways. The Mavs slogan for this season is "NEW MAVERICKS UNDER CONSTRUCTION" and it is obvious who will be footing the bill for this construction. The Mavs announced their ticket prices for the 1996-97 season. For season ticket holders that kept their tickets since 92-93, Donald Carter had frozen the prices at the 92-93 rate. That freeze is gone and now we get to pay (ouch). Here are the new prices for the 96-97 season. 96-97 95-96 92-93 frozen price $70 $50 $42 [some of these will "only" be $52] $52 $40 $32 $42 $32 $24 $35 $27 $19 [some of these will "only" be $30] $27 $24 $17 $21 $19 $14 $15 $15 $12 $9 $5 $5 [I guess I should feel "lucky" that my $19 tickets are only increasing by $11 to $30. The fun part is going to be talking my dad into renewing his ticket (come on, Dad, you know you love going and think of the quality time we get to spend together).] The Mavs ranked 25th out of 29 teams in average ticket prices last season. The Mavs report that this increase would only move the Mavs up to 15th or 16th in average in 95-96 ranking. Of course, they fail to mention that most of those top ranking teams have the high price luxury boxes that Reunion is lacking. In the draft news, the Mavs brought Lorenzen Wright (Memphis, forward), Samaki Walker (Louisville, forward), and Kerry Kittles (Villanova, guard) to Dallas for workouts. Antoine Walker (Kentucky, forward) is scheduled to visit today (Friday) and Roy Rogers (Alabama, forward) is scheduled to visit today and tomorrow. The Mavs sent two representatives to Erick Dampier's (Mississippi State, center) private workout. Jim Cleamons said that the Mavs have roughly 10 trade proposals on the table, but is inclined towards keeping the 3 Js together. Cleamons: "[the other sides] are horse traders out there. They're not going to give you equal value. Everybody's looking for a better deal. So what's a good deal? Why not give these three young men an opportunity to play together? What I see, whatever the differences were last year, I don't think they're so insurmountable that they can't be worked out." Due to injuries, the 3 Js have only played in 66 games together. patricia
