Martin Muursepp suffered a severely sprained right ankle and will be out of action for up to 6 weeks. The injury means that he will not be able to participate in the summer leagues as he was scheduled to. The Mavs held a rookie/young players mini-camp at the Baylor-Landry Center July 13-16. Chris Anstey, Bubba Wells, Samaki Walker, Erick Strickland, and Darnell Robinson (1996 2nd round pick who played in Europe last season) were among the attendees. At the end of the camp, Dallas released 5 of the free agents that attended including Jerry Reynolds and Donnie Boyce. The Mavs will participate in 2 summer camps - the Fila Summer League in Long Beach, California July 16 through 27 and the Rocky Mountain Review in Salt Lake City, Utah July 27 through August 2. Erick Strickland, Samaki Walker, Ed O'Bannon, draftee Bubba Wells, Stacey King, and Darnell Robinson are scheduled to attend. Chris Anstey will attend the Fila camp, but not the Rocky Mountain Review as the Australian league is still playing. He will be at training camp for the start (October 3) even if the South East Melbourne team is still playing in the playoffs. The Mavs worked out free agent Mark Davis (Philadelphia last season) a few weeks ago. No word as to whether or not they will make him an offer. The Mavs aren't likely to sign any free agents until after the salary cap increases August 15. Davis is a small forward who averaged 8.5 points (46.9% FG, 67.3% FT), 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 22.7 minutes with Philadelphia last season. Denver, Houston, and Miami are among the teams to have shown interest in our free agent Erick Strickland. Strick says he'd like to stay here, but may go else where if the money/situation is better. He is scheduled to work out for Denver for 3 days next week and will miss part of the Fila summer league to do so. Chris Anstey's Australian game performances (since the draft): 7/12 Melbourne 96, SE Melbourne 89; Anstey had 14 points (7-12 FG, 0-2 FT), 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 blocks. 7/9 SE Melbourne 113, Adelaide 105 (OT); Anstey had 12 points (6-12 FG) and 12 rebounds. 7/4 SE Melbourne 84, Townsville 81; Anstey had 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, and 4 steals. 6/28 SE Melbourne 127, Sydney 100; Anstey had 30 points (12-19 FG, 6-11 FT), 15 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks, patricia
