News from April 2.
 
The NBA named Paul Pierce (Bos) as Player of the Month.  Pierce averaged
30.3 points and 7.2 rebounds as Boston went 8-7.
 
The NBA named Jason Kidd (Pho) as Player of the Week.  Kidd averaged 31
points, 7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists as Phoenix went 4-0.
 
Charlotte activated Derrick Coleman and placed Lee Nailon on IR with left
knee tendinitis.
 
Sherman Douglas (NJ) underwent surgery on his right thumb to repair a
ligament.  He will be out the rest of the season.
 
Rod Strickland (Por) pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was
sentenced to 10 days in jail and 2 years probation.  Strickland was
arrested for DUI January 7.
