News from August 7.

Jerry West announced his retirement as executive VP of basketball
operations for the LA Lakers.  West had been in the Lakers' front office
for 18 seasons.  With West's retirement, Mitch Kupchak was promoted to
executive VP of basketball operations and Kurt Rambis was promoted to
assistant GM.

Golden State re-signed Adonal Foyle.

Chicago named Norm Ellenberger as assistant coach.

7/21 San Antonio signed 2nd round draft pick (#41) Chris Carawell to a 1
