News from December 24.

The NBA named Gary Payton (Sea) and Jermaine O'Neal (Ind) as Players of
the Week.  Payton averaged 22.3 points and 10 asssits as Seattle went 3-0.
O'Neal averaged 28.5 points including 62.9% FG and 10 rebounds as Indiana
went 3-1.

The NBA fined Kenyon Martin (NJ) $7,500 and suspended him for 1 game for
his flagrant foul against Karl Malone (Uta) during Friday's NJ-Uta game.

Tim Floyd resigned as head coach of Chicago.  Bill Berry was named as
interim coach.
