News from February 4.

The NBA named Pau Gasol (Mem) and Richard Jefferson (NJ) as Rookies of the
Month for January.  Gasol averaged 20.7 points and 9.5 rebounds.  Jefferson
averaged 10.3 points as New Jersey went 11-4.

The NBA named Shaquille O'Neal (LAL) and Jason Kidd (NJ) as Players of the
Week.  O'Neal averaged 27.5 points and 10.8 rebounds as the Lakers went
4-0.  Kidd averaged 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 11.5 assists as New Jersey
went 2-0.

David Wesley (Cha) is expect to be out 3 to 4 weeks with a broken bone in 
his foot.

Atlanta signed Ira Newble to a 2nd 10-day contract on February 1.
