News from April 18.

The NBA named Tim Duncan (SA) and Paul Pierce (Bos) as Players of the 
Month for April.  Duncan averaged 26.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists,
and 2.8 blocks as San Antonio went 9-0.  Pierce averaged 25.1 points, 6.5
rebounds, and 2.5 steals as Boston went 7-1.

The NBA named Lenny Wilkens (Tor) as Coach of the Month for April.
Toronto went 7-2 to come from behind to receive a playoff berth.

The NBA named Gilbert Arenas (GS) and Zeljko Rebraca (Det) as Rookies of
the Month for April.  Arenas averaged 16.6 points and 6.1 assists. 
Rebraca averaged 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Phoenix signed coach Frank Johnson to a 3-year contract.

Chicago assistant Norm Ellenberger resigned.

Vitaly Potapenko (Bos) suffered a partial tear of his ACL his left knee 
during Wednesday's Bos-Atl game.  They are hopefully that he will be out
just 10 to 14 days.
