News from February 3.

The NBA named Kobe Bryant (LAL) and Jermaine O'Neal (Ind) as Players of
the Month for January.  Bryant averaged 30.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.4
assists as the Lakers went 8-4.  O'Neal averaged 19.4 points, 10.2
rebounds, and 3.4 blocks as Indiana went 10-6.

The NBA named Gregg Popovich (SA) and George Karl (Mil) as Coaches of the
Month for January.  San Antonio went 11-3 and Milwaukee went 10-4.

The NBA Named Amare Stoudemire (Pho) and Caron Butler (Mia) as Rookies of
the Month for January.  Stoudemire averaged 14 points and 9.6 rebounds.
Butler averaged 16.4 points and 5 rebounds.

The NBA named Kobe Bryant (LAL) and Chauncey Billups (Det) as Players of the
Week.  Bryant averaged 40 points as the Lakers went 3-0.  Billups averaged
22.3 points and 5 rebounds as Detroit went 3-0.

Michael Olowokandi underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and is
expected to be out 3 to 4 weeks.
