News from April 7.

The NBA named Shaquille O'Neal (LAL) and Jason Kidd (NJ) as Players of the
Week.  O'Neal averaged 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks as the Lakers
went 4-0.  Kidd averaged 20.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 9.3 assists as New 
Jersey went 3-1.

Jerry Krause resigned as GM of Chicago.

Ben Wallace (Det) is expected to be out 2 weeks with a sprained MCL in his
left knee.

Vince Carter (Tor, sprained left ankle) and Antonio Davis (Tor, groin
strain) are expected to miss the last 6 games of the season.

Lorenzen Wright (Mem) is expected to miss the last 5 games of the season
with a severely sprained right thumb.

The Basketball Hall of Fame announced the inductees for 2003.  They are:
 Players
   Meadowlark Lemon member of the Harlem Globetrotters from 1957 to 1979
   Earl Lloyd       first black player to play in the NBA in 1950, played
                    9 seasons in the NBA
   Dino Meneghin    28 years playing in Italy for a record 834 games
   Robert Parish    played 21 seasons in NBA, with Boston Celtics 80-81 -
                    93-94, won championship in 1981, 1984, and 1986
   James Worthy     played with the LA Lakers 82-83 - 93-94, Finals MVP
                    1988, won championship in 1985, 1987, and 1988
 Coaches
   Leon Barmore     576-87 record coaching in 17 seasons with Louisiana 
                    Tech womens team, 1988 NCAA champion
 Contributors
   Chick Hearn      TV and radio voice of the Los Angeles Lakers from 1965
                    to 2001, coined many basketball phrases
