News from August 20.

Portland released Shawn Kemp after restructuring the $46.5 million left on
his contract.  Reports are that the restructured deal is for $25 million
less and will pay Kemp about $20 million over 10 years.

Nene Hilario (Den draft pick) will not play for Brazil in the World
Championship tournament due to a strained left abductor muscle.  Hilario
is expected to be out a month.

Jahidi White (Was) is scheduled to undergo knee surgery to repair his left
quad tendon and is expected to be out 3 months.

Atlanta named Alex English as director of player personnel and named Terry
Stotts and Steve Henson as assistant coaches.
