News from October 4.

Cleveland released Tony Farmer.

Caron Butler (Mia) underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to
remove loose particles.  He is expected to be out 3 to 4 weeks.

Memphis signed Mike Miller to a 6 year extension.  Miller is now signed
through 09-10.

New Jersey reached a buyout agreement with Dikembe Mutombo, making him a
free agent.  The buyout is reportedly worth $30 million.

New Jersey released Lavan Alston and James Smith.

Orlando released Ousmane Cisse.

Scott Williams (Pho) underwent surgery on his left thumb to repair
ligaments.  He is expected to be out 6 weeks.

Nick Collison (Sea) is expected to undergo surgery on both shoulders and
will be out for the entire season.  He dislocated his left shoulder and
tests showed a similar weakness in his right shoulder.
