News from February 23.

The NBA named Kobe Bryant (LAL) and Dwyane Wade (Mia) as Players of the
Week.  Bryant averaged 33.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists as
the Lakers went 4-0.  Wade averaged 27 points as Miami went 3-0.

The NBA fined Detroit $200,000 for using ineligible players.  Recently 
acquired players Rasheed Wallace and Mike James played in the 1st half
of Friday's Det-Min game (they didn't play in the 2nd half as the 
league called during halftime and told Detroit to sit them).  The 
trade had not at that time been formally approved (ie, all the paper
work was not completed).

The NBA fined Cleveland $5,000 for a skit in which the mascot made fun of
former Cav Ricky Davis (Bos).

Sacramento released Lawrence Funderburke.
