News from March 1.

The NBA named Kevin Garnett (Min) and Kenyon Martin (NJ) as Players of the
Month for February.  Garnett averaged 25.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.1
assists as Minnesota went 11-4.  Martin averaged 18.5 points and 10.7
rebounds as New Jersey went 11-2.

The NBA named Hubie Brown (Mem) and Lawrence Frank (NJ) as Coaches of the
Month for February.  Memphis went 10-3.  New Jersey went 11-2.

The NBA named Carmelo Anthony (Den) and LeBron James (Cle) as Rookies of the
Month for February.  Anthony averaged 27.1 points.  James averaged 21.2
points.

The NBA named Andrei Kirilenko (Uta) and Ben Wallace (Det) as Players of the
Week.  Kirilenko averaged 25 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3 blocks as Utah
went 3-0.  Wallace averaged 12.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks as
Detroit went 4-0.

Philadelphia fined Allen Iverson for not attending Sunday's game.  Iverson
has not been playing due to an injured shoulder.

Golden State signed Rusty LaRue to a 10-day contract and placed Nick Van 
Exel on IR with chronic left knee inflammation.

New Orleans activated David Wesley and placed Bryce Drew on IR with lower
back spasms.

Atlanta activated Travis Hansen and placed Chris Mills on IR with a stress
reaction in his right foot.

Orlando signed Desmond Penigar to a 2nd 10-day contract.

Washington released Brevin Knight.
