The NBA named Shaquille O'Neal (LAL) and Vince Carter (Tor) as Players of
the Week.  O'Neal averaged 24.3 points, 17.5 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks as the
Lakers went 4-0.  Carter averaged 32 points and 5.3 assists as Toronto went
2-1.

The NBA fined Steve Francis (Hou) $25,000 for swearing during a halftime
interview during ESPN's broadcast of Sunday's Hou-Sac game.

New Jersey signed Anthony Goldwire to a 10-day contract and placed Hubert
Davis on IR with tendinitis in his left knee.

Philadelphia activated Amal McCaskill and placed Derrick Coleman on IR
with left knee tendinitis.
