The NBA formally approved the $401 million sale of the Phoenix Suns to 
a group led by Robert Sarver.

The LA Clippers made a qualifying offer to Quentin Richardson, making him a
restricted free agent.

Toronto named Pete Babcock as director of player personnel.

Golden State named Terry Stotts as an assistant coach.

Erick Dampier elected to opt out of his contract and is a free agent.

Utah made qualifying offers to Carlos Arroyo, Gordan Giricek, Maurice 
Williams, and Jarron Collins, making them restricted free agents.

Sacramento named T.R. Dunn as an assistant coach.

San Antonio named Don Newman as assistant coach.  [thanks to A Hanck].

Draft day (6/24) trade [thanks to G. Timothy Walton for pointing this one
out]: TRADE: Toronto traded the rights to #39 Albert Miralles to Miami 
for the rights to #47 Pape Sow and a 2nd round draft pick in 2005.

Today (July 1) is the free agency date - all 03-04 contracts officially
ended.  It is also the start of the July Moratorium - teams may negotiate
with free agents, but can not start signing free agents until July 14 [the
delay is so that the 04-05 salary cap can be calculated].
