News from March 1.

The NBA named Dirk Nowitzki (Dal) and Vince Carter (NJ) as Players of the
Month for February.  Nowitzki averaged 27.2 points and 10.2 rebounds as
Dallas went 10-3.  Carter averaged 30.2 points and 6.3 rebounds as New
Jersey went 6-6.

The NBA named George Karl (Den) and Larry Brown (Det) as Coaches of the
Month for February.  Denver went 8-3 and Detroit went 9-1.

The NBA fined Gilbert Arenas $7,500 for criticizing the refs following
Sunday's Was-Sac game.

Dallas signed Alan Henderson and placed Pavel Podkolzin on IR with torn
cartilage in his right knee.

Miami signed Alonzo Mourning and released Wesley Person.

Atlanta released Gary Payton.

New Orleans released Dale Davis and Glenn Robinson.

New Jersey released Elden Campbell.
